Website Maintenance & Support Services — Keep Your Site Fast, Secure & Functional
A website is not a “build it and leave it” asset. WordPress core updates, plugin conflicts, and security vulnerabilities require regular attention. I provide transparent, fixed-rate maintenance so your site stays fast, secure, and functional—without surprise invoices. Starting at $49/month.
What is website maintenance?
Direct Answer: Website maintenance is the ongoing process of updating WordPress core files, testing plugin compatibility, applying security patches, running backups, and monitoring uptime. Without it, sites become vulnerable to hacks, slow down from database bloat, and can break when themes or plugins release incompatible updates. A maintenance plan handles these technical tasks on a fixed monthly schedule.
Why WordPress Websites Require Maintenance
Understanding what happens behind the scenes helps you see why skipping updates is a risk.
Core & Plugin Updates
WordPress releases core updates regularly. Plugins update to patch bugs or add features. If these aren’t tested and applied, your site can break or become incompatible. I handle the updates and check for conflicts.
Security Vulnerabilities
Outdated software is the #1 way websites get hacked. Maintenance includes monitoring for vulnerabilities and applying security patches before they become a problem. See security focus →
Database & Backups
If your site breaks or gets compromised, you need a clean backup to restore from. I maintain automated backup schedules and verify that backups can actually be restored if needed.
Performance Drift
Sites slow down over time as databases bloat and new plugins add overhead. Regular maintenance includes clearing clutter and optimizing performance so your load times stay fast. Learn about speed overhauls →
What’s Included in the Maintenance Plan
A straightforward, fixed-scope plan starting at $49 CAD per month.
- ✓ WordPress Core Updates: Applied and tested monthly to ensure no theme or plugin conflicts.
- ✓ Plugin Updates: All plugins updated, with special attention to Elementor and custom code dependencies to prevent layout breaks.
- ✓ Off-Site Backups: Automated weekly backups stored securely separately from your hosting server.
- ✓ Uptime Monitoring: I get alerted if your site goes offline so I can investigate immediately.
- ✓ Security Scans: Basic malware and spam scanning to catch issues early. (Hardcore security is a separate service).
- ✓ Minor Content Edits: Up to 30 minutes per month for text changes, image swaps, or adding a new page.
- ✓ Monthly Report: A brief summary of what was updated and the current health status of your site.

Maintaining Hybrid Elementor Sites
Because I build sites using a mix of Elementor and custom code, maintaining them requires specific attention that generic maintenance plans don’t cover.
When Elementor releases a major update, it can occasionally override custom CSS or change how specific widgets render. If you hired a developer who only knows Elementor, they won’t know how to fix the custom code part. If you hired a developer who only writes raw code, they might break your Elementor layouts.
Since I built your site, I know exactly where the Elementor output ends and the custom code begins. During monthly updates, I specifically check the hybrid intersections to ensure your custom optimizations (load time fixes, custom schemas, specific PHP functions) remain intact after WordPress and Elementor updates.
What Falls Outside Standard Maintenance
Clear boundaries prevent surprise bills. These tasks are billed separately at an hourly rate.
New Feature Development
Adding new pages, building new forms, or integrating new tools (like a new CRM) is considered new development, not maintenance.
Major Version Upgrades
If your site requires a major architectural overhaul—like migrating from an old PHP version or completely rebuilding a broken template—that is scoped as a separate project.
Hacked Site Recovery
If your site is actively hacked and compromised, emergency cleanup and forensic hardening require a separate security retainer. View Security Services →
Content Writing & Photography
Writing blog posts, taking product photos, or creating graphic assets falls outside technical maintenance.
Maintenance FAQ
Common questions about ongoing website support.
You can, but it carries risk. Sometimes an update to WordPress core or Elementor conflicts with a specific plugin or a piece of custom code, causing a white screen or broken layout. If you don’t know how to troubleshoot via FTP or database rollback, a simple update can take your site offline for hours. I handle the updates on a staging environment or with verified backups ready.
No. I can maintain your site on most standard cPanel or cloud hosting environments. As long as I have admin access to the WordPress dashboard and (ideally) FTP/SFTP access for deeper file-level maintenance, we are good to go. See my hosting recommendations →
My uptime monitoring alerts me immediately if your site drops. For critical downtime caused by a failed update or server issue, I respond as quickly as possible to restore the site from backup or resolve the server error. Maintenance clients get priority response times over non-contract inquiries.
No long-term contracts. The maintenance plan operates on a month-to-month basis. You can cancel anytime if you decide to manage the site yourself or hire an in-house team. I believe in earning your business every month, not locking you in.
If you have a heavy month of changes—like launching a new service page or reformatting a blog—I track the time beyond the 30 minutes and bill it at my standard hourly rate. I always confirm with you before doing any billable work outside the maintenance scope.
